Just flippin through some sketchbooks when I found this and chuckled pretty hard. I don’t even get it.
Been working all day on homework and Bobby Brand stuff. Which is basically what most of my week days are comprised of. Luckily, my comic book pages for the Chuck & Mike comic are doubling as credit for my AP Art class.
So I just finished this panel on one of the pages, and thought I’d give you kids a little sneak peek! That’s all you get for now though.
Getting pretty pumped for The Avengers movie! In fact, it’s a reoccurring subject matter on our podcast.
So here’s a little Chuck & Mike parody I did to feed my hype. Poor Earl is having such a hard time with the Mjolnir hammer. I was going to include the Tales of the Spirit War characters as well, but seeing as Prince Rool is already an archer, that would leave Jav as Black Widow, and that just didn’t seem right.
Model Card for the Zaxxonian alien dude that we saw way back in the early strips of the webcomic.
Why bring him up or show his card? Because the most recent strip has a reference to the aliens! Mike prepares a rocket to send to the Zaxxonian Warlord.
As I mentioned in the podcast last week, the GEEKast staff and I went on a trip to Sacramento to go to the amazing Utrech Art Supply store there. I had been introduced to the store a few onths ago by a fellow comic book artist, and I was so impressed with their array of professional art supplies, I feel it my responsibility to spread the word about them.
So here’s a link to their website. You can order stuff online from them as well as see if they have a store near you.
What I recommend for aspiring comic artists (it’s what the pros use too!):
- Comic strip boards
- Comic book page layout boards
- Micron Ink Pens - they are truly amazing
- Thick black felt tip pen - for getting those large spaces inked
- Non-photo blue pencil - for linework that won’t photocopy
- Magic Rub! - not from Utrech, but if you can find them BUY THEM
And by that point you should be broke, so that’s the end of that.
Here’s some promotional art for the Chuck & Mike comic book series coming this summer. This may be made into a poster to be sold with the book upon its launch. We’ll see.
